Camera placement

RTIS / RVIS usable zone

Adjust height, tilt, and lens. The green band is the optimal face-pitch zone at ≥125 PPM.

Camera Parameters

Side-view FOV optimized for RTIS / RVIS face capture
Optimal for RTIS / RVIS recognition Preferred: height 2.2 – 3.5 m, tilt 12 – 18° down
Mild downward pitch → full face, not forehead. Low mounts looking up work only with short stand-off and ≤12° up.
Head-and-shoulders capture with mild downward pitch
Head-and-shoulders capture usable for RTIS / RVIS matching
Target capture quality
Camera not in the list?
Supports low mounts (e.g. 3 ft / ~0.9 m looking up).
Negative = looking up (below head height). Positive = looking down.

RTIS / RVIS face quality
Optimal zone (good face pitch + ≥125 PPM)
Usable ≥ 125 PPM (good pics in)
Outside / below threshold (out)
Green band moves with height. Above face: prefer 12–18° down. Below face (e.g. 3 ft looking up): keep upward pitch ≤12° and stand-off short.
Tip: Aim for the RTIS/RVIS usable zone (≥125 PPM) at the expected subject distance. Longer focal length tightens the cone and pushes the usable zone farther out.
